Adult Learners, ABE and Lifelong Learners

I created this site to support ABE/GED tutors, especially volunteer tutors or those new to the field. I have included teaching techniques I have found useful, either as a teacher or program coordinator.

Our students need a safe space to learn while receiving tangible and positive feedback as they work on their education and continue to build their confidence. Learning is deeply psychological and for many of these learners, scars from early education remain.

They may or may not reach their goals with you. If you nourish their need to learn they may become life-long learners, and life-long learners have greater potential to reach many goals.

Please feel free to look at the different teaching techniques I have included on this site. Some techniques are directed to students at specific levels while others can be used at any level.

I will periodically be adding more information and creating new pages. I welcome your additions as well as comments.
